Ascendent je pomembno znamenje, mogoče celo pomembnejše kot Sonce. Nahaja se namreč na prvi stopinji naše astrološke karte, torej v prvi hiši, ki je hiša osebnosti. Predstavlja vrh oziroma začetek prve hiše.
Lahko bi rekli, da ascendent najbolje prikazuje našo osebnost - kdo smo.
Opiše naš zunanji izgled in način obnašanja. Poznavanje ascendenta nam pomaga razumeti, kako nas vidijo drugi. Vpliva torej tudi na naš izgled, pove nam, katere barve so nam všeč, o čem se radi pogovarjamo, kakšen stil imamo - v vsem!

Ascendent izvemo iz točne ure rojstva. Pri tem je pomembno, da je ura res čimbolj natančna, saj že najmanjše odstopanje lahko zavede in prikaže nepravo znamenje.

MC je 180°nasproti ascendentu in, če ascendent predstavlja NAS, midheaven predstavlja DRUGE v oziru na nas same...
